Hi everyone! My name is Sophia McMahon. I joined Silhouette last fall as a photography editor and as a poetry featured creative for the Fall 2024 edition. I am honored to now be the new Editor-in-Chief of Silhouette for the 2025-2026 school year!

What should I tell you all about myself? My hobbies include clothes (buying them, thrifting them, altering them, and even sewing them), crocheting (again, mostly for the purposes of making clothes), cooking, baking, reading, and pilates. I am a senior majoring in Communication with a minor in Event Management. I like to think I am a hard worker and a bit of a perfectionist.

As a transfer student, I touched down in Blacksburg last year a bit lost and lonely. The Silhouette welcomed me immediately with open metaphorical arms. I firmly believe the work Silhouette does is of paramount importance to this community. I’ve met wonderful people, read poignant poetry and prose, seen beautiful art – all because of this lovely little magazine. We are a beacon for creative people swimming in a sea of STEM programs.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude to have been chosen to lead this motley crew of passionate creatives. I look forward to working with the team, and I hope to do you all proud this year.
