How to Not Waste a Rainy Day

Some people love rainy days, others not so much. But just because you’re stuck inside doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time. Here are a few ways to make the most of a rainy day.

Create

A rainy day is the perfect time to rediscover a lost passion or try to find a new one.

Maybe you bought a calligraphy set two years ago on a whim and never made the time to try it. Or maybe your paintbrushes and easel are somewhere in your basement buried under a mountain of old clothes you’ve been meaning to donate to Goodwill. Whatever the case, why not explore your creative side by doing something fun and productive?

Reflect

Sometimes when our lives get busy, we forget to take the time to recharge and reflect. If you’re ever so lucky to spend a rainy day indoors by yourself, consider writing in your journal, or making a list of blessings or causes of stress in your life.

What are your goals for this month? How can you take better care of yourself? What’s causing you unhappiness, and can you change it? Reflecting on your current life circumstances can help you be more appreciative of what you have as well as know how to make the necessary changes to improve your life.

Decompress

You deserve a day off. Spending the whole day watching movies does not count as wasting it. Especially if you’re crossing off classics from your growing “movies to watch before you die” list.

If you’re not into movies, binge watch a show everyone at work’s been talking about that you’re dying to see. Or read a book from your growing collection.

If you’re sleep deprived (which let’s be real, who isn’t?), catch up on your sleep as you listen to the rain fall on the window pane. Don’t feel bad about getting necessary rest on your rainy day.
